What is Hospice?
Hospice is a special kind of care provided in the familiar surroundings of wherever you call home - whether that is a house, apartment, assisted living residence, nursing home - or in a hospital-based hospice center.
Hospice is an appropriate choice when the focus of treatment shifts from curing your illness to providing physical, emotional and spiritual comfort. Using a team-oriented approach, the goal of hospice care is to provide expert medical comfort care, relieve pain and symptoms and offer compassionate emotional and spiritual support for the patient and family tailored to each patient’s wishes. The care team also provides practical support and education for the family and friend caregivers.
You may discontinue hospice at any time should you wish to resume curative treatments.
